About CEMHRI
Who we are
The Centre for Mental Health Research and Initiative (CEMHRI) is a non-profit organization
The Centre for Mental Health Research and Innovation (CEMHRI) is a research-driven organization committed to advancing mental and neurological health through evidence-based research, training, policy development, advocacy, and community engagement. We promote mental health awareness and work to eliminate stigma associated with mental illness.
Our work includes key initiatives such as integrating mental health services into primary healthcare, building capacity among healthcare providers, implementing school-based mental health programs for adolescents, and supporting community-based interventions to improve access to quality care.
Our approach
Our Mission
The mission of CEMHRI is to improve the lives of persons with mental and neurological illnesses and promote mental health and social well-being through systematic research, documentation, service delivery, and leadership in the implementation of public mental health initiatives.
We work to generate evidence, reduce stigma, strengthen mental health awareness, and support individuals, families, communities, health workers, and policymakers with the knowledge and tools needed to improve mental health outcomes.
Our Vision
Our vision is to become a leading centre of excellence in Africa providing essential and up-to-date information, research, data, and services in mental and neurological health.
We envision a society where mental health is better understood, stigma is reduced, evidence informs policy, and people living with mental and neurological conditions can access the support, care, and inclusion they need to thrive.
